Grown ups love reading too!

I am a romantic soul and enjoy the old fashioned love stories of a time gone by. This is why Jane Austen is my favourite author. EMMA is such a classic, there is something charming about this story including Mr Knightley. Making time to get lost in a book is so relaxing and thrilling. I recently read Me before you by author Jojo Moyes after watching the film. Reading each page just made me linger on every word and capture every moment. A story about love, learning and letting go

My favourite book is a collection of funny poems written by Jez Alborough about his experiences at primary school. He names his teachers in the poems, including his headteacher Mr Rimington who happens to be my late granddad! My favourite poem is called "Morning Prayer", which is about a silent prayer Jez would say in his head every day during morning assembly when Mr Rimington would ask pupils times table questions. Jez was so scared of being picked on and getting the answer wrong that he would hide behind other children and say his prayer! In the front of the book Jez has hand-written a note to Mr Rimington, which he then gave to him as a gift. After my granddad passed away, the book was given to me to treasure.

My favourite book is the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. I first read this book when I was 11 years old and subsequently read the sequels. Although I love the trilogy, my favourite just has to be The Fellowship of the Ring, where I was first introduced to Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Merry Brandybuck and Peregrin Pippin Took. I have since read the books multiple times and have always loved their friendship from the onset and how they are cheeky, yet innocent hobbits that have their world turned upside down because of their bravery and pride to do the right thing. J. R. R. Tolkein is fantastic at creating imagery that transports you from The Shire to Mount Doom. He makes me feel like I am one of the hobbits on their journey with them, going through the trials and tribulations.

I have always loved reading and like all types of books fiction, non fiction and biographies. When I was younger I really enjoyed Enid Blyton books like The Magic Faraway Tree, The Famous Five and the Malory Towers series. The most challenging book I have read is Les Miserables and the book I am reading in the picture is Frank Lampard's biography as I am a Chelsea fan.

When I was about 6 years old, I watched my older sister perform at the Plymouth Speech and Drama Festival. One of the boys in her class read a monologue from Our Day Out by Willy Russell, where he was a bit rude about his teacher. I can remember all the adults watching laugh and wondered how this boy was not only getting away with what he was saying but getting the adults to laugh along as well! Up until this point, I was quite shy but then I started lessons and the next year was on the stage myself doing that same monologue at the festival and basking in the glory of laughs. It was then, through discovering play writes like Willy Russell and poets like Spike Milligan, I found a love of performing and discovered a new-found confidence off the stage as well.

There is something very special about getting lost in a book. Each page is a new part of the adventure and time runs away with you, especially when you're reading with a cup of tea under a snuggly blanket. I will never forget my primary school teacher sharing the story the BFG by Roald Dahl, which is now my favourite. Sophie, befriends a giant, who is an outcast because, unlike others of his kind, he refuses to humans. A story of friendship and adventure and one that will have a special place on the book shelf so it can be reread again and again and again...

I've found it impossible to narrow down my favourite book to just one! When I was growing up I absolutely loved the Famous Five; I wanted to join the children (and dog) on all of their adventures! I think Harry Potter is great (I like the third one best) and I'd love to visit Hogwarts one day. Michael Morpurgo has written some incredible stories, Kensuke's Kingdom is probably my favourite. Of course all of Roald Dahl's books are brilliant, I think George's Marvellous Medicine and The Magic Finger are the ones I most enjoy. I've always wanted to make a giant potion like George does in the story and see what would happen if I gave it to someone to drink!

Snuggling up with a blanket and a good book makes me happy! I love to read Julia Donaldson stories to others and I think they are always so beautifully written, with very clever rhymes! The illustrations are always very interesting to look at, sometimes you find characters from other Julia Donaldson stories hiding in them! I love the story of The Gruffalo as the smallest character saves the day and shows how brave they can be regardless of size! I am a big fan of Roald Dahl as I grew up listening to my teachers and parents reading them to me as a child. My favourite Roald Dahl story has to be Matilda and I loved it so much that I have seen the London Theatre performance of it!
